Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Question

Does Humana have a no retaliation policy for reporting things? Can an assocuate legitimately file a grievance against their leader without facing terminatiin because of it?

If you are a PHC it's too late. Worry about other things.

Hr4u will confidentially investigate any report. It may take a bit longer given all the recents RIFs and the work surrounding that they’ve been tasked with, but I can assure you they investigate and will speak to several team members. It depends on the rest of the teams validation or denial of your accusations on disciplinary action. And unless it was a critical offense the coach would receive a coaching plan/pip and work to meet expectations instead of being fired. If they retaliate against you then they can be fired. However if their treatment of you is consistent with the rest of your team and they follow policy and procedures they may be unlikable or strict but still keep their job, because they aren’t breaking any rules.

. You would not know if your coach was reprimanded or not. You don't know if she had to go through diversity training or was out on an action plan. Only her boss knows

I complained (anonymously) shortly there after my hours were changed to 11am to 7 pm. I was told like it or leave. I can't prove it was retaliatory. Let your conscience decide, but I don't feel it worked out well for me.

I would definitely do it anonymously. I'm telling you there is retaliation. I was in a team meeting where the coach told the team they needed to fill in the info on the CGX alt information for race or ethnicity. Staff said they were uncomfortable asking those questions because it did not pertain to a members care. The coach said Medicare required it and told staff if they felt uncomfortable then they didn't need to ask, they could just determine by the member's voice and how they talked. Team member ask her to clarify. She said" well, you can tell by someones voice what race they are, it's easy to tell if someone is Black just by how they talk." Several anonymous ethics complaints made on that one and she's still working for the company. HR did an investigation but most were to afraid to say they heard her say it so she stayed. I know they record our calls, all they had to do was pull the recording from anyone on the team during that meeting and get the info they needed. She was not reprimanded and since she knew we complained it just made her more of an A__ than she already was.

You cant be retaliated against butt you will be first round pick for lay off

Hr is to protect the company, not you, maybe go through ethics?

If this is the coach that is known to be much more friendly with her male reports than female, I can tell you this has already been reported. Good luck!

Ethics is total anonymous but even if you go through HR4U shared solutions will contact you for more information and you can ask that they are discreet. They will reach out to the team for information and they will reach out to the coaches COM to also discuss what has been reported. Trust me on this if she/he is a bad coach and the report is founded by others on the team she/he will be counseled. Shared services will tell you to call them back if you find that you are being retaliated against by your coach and if so they will open another report... See how the case builds-up against the coach....... Humana has done alot of unkind things lately that I am not proud of them but they are fair when associates are treated misfairly and they have a no tolerance policy. If you just want to talk to associate relations about your concerns and you decide that you dont want it investigated but want advice that is another option. If you go to the Hi page and look for hr4u or associate relations it has additional information on what they do. Good luck

Is the ethics like the anonymous way to report? Or hr4u? If I reported through hr4u do I have any guarantee that it will be anonymous? As far as if they interview my coworkers, part of the problem is favortism. She treats some of us very very badly, but others on the team can do no wrong. Even if they are horrible employees. So a random sampling of the team could result in responses that are accurate, or they could be "she's the greatest thing since sliced bread." But, the favoritism is only part of the issue. There are others as well, some that I don't think she could hide.

I would reach out to the Ethics hotline or hr4u and file a compliant but please make sure that it is accurate i.e. discrimination, unfair treatment.etc.... Associate relations will not disclose your name and they actually will poll/speak to several of your peers( maybe 5 or 6) on the team to determine if the allegations can be founded. Now if your peers that are interviewed all say that your coach is the best thing going then it will look like you are disgruntle. Even when they speak to your peers the questions are very vague and they dont disclose a report was made and who made the report. . Humana has never fired anyone just on a drop of the dime so dont believe all of the posters... I know all of this from experience. Also when shared solutions reach out to your coach.. they will advise him/her that if they retailiate in anyway it can leave to termination.Good luck

DON'T DO IT !!!! I can't say this more clearly or loudly, Do Not do it !!! You will regret it. Unless you have won the Lottery or Publisher Clearing House Sweepstakes, Do Not Do it !!!

by | Post ID:

I reported anonymously too, safest way ensure they investigate without your head on the chopping block.

by | Post ID:

Do what you need to -- being fired for doing that is retaliation in and of itself. You can report anonymously. I had to, many times.

by | Post ID:

It's been my experience seeing this first hand with 4 different people who complained about their coach: i.e.: grievance, discrimination, inappropriate comments the outcome was not satisfactory. One was fired within hours of filing a complaint, one was offered another team in a time zone with a start time 3 hours later...they just didn't have an opening, the third and fourth went through extreme micromanagement of their day. One so miserable found other employment, the other still suffering. So you may want to rethink your options.
