Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

It's 2018! Happy New Years! Anyone want to put in predictions of for employee count in Sept 2018?

Wiki says HPE had 45,000 Sept 2017. Anyone want to put in a guess for count in Sept 2018? I'm hoping for 50,000 buy I still believe the Lions will win the Superbowl in my lifetime. My guess, with spinoff of pointnext (speculation on my part), 25,000 by Sept 2018. Any guesses?

"The business side will be moved to another Houston location." I'm betting it never happens.

Regarding the closing of the HPE part of the Houston Campus: The business side will be moved to another Houston location. Manufacturing and Integration will be moved as follows:

From the press:

HPE is relocating its manufacturing operations to its site in Chippewa Falls, Wis. and to HPE's supply chain partner Flex in Austin. The company will attempt to relocate or find other roles within HPE for as many manufacturing employees as possible.

Source: the chron.com and my former co-workers who are now part of HPE PointNext.

Note: Most the build and test that was done in Houston in building M5 was moved to Juarez Mexico a few years back.

"Any thoughts on who might be willing to pick through HPE's bones and buy whatever still has value, like real estate.

Would someone buy HPUX and provide long term service and patches?"

After the recent floods in Houston TX, I know HPE is closing that campus. Meg said they are looking at other locations to re-open new offices in the area. I seriously doubt that will ever happen.

Who would pick through the HPE's carcass? I'm thinking some Chinese company.

"So why are you guys still hanging around ?"

...

Well OK, that can be taken 2 ways... Why are you still working for HPE? Or why are you hanging out on this web site? Latter question already answered... Look out for your fellow beings.

...

Former question has been answered repeatedly: Family reasons, cannot relocate easily. And / or, professional reasons. Got super-specialized at HPE. Smaller employers want non-specialized employees. Stuck at HPE because the only other alternative is working as a greeter at Walmart. Not willing to re-locate to India (and renounce USA citizenship) in order to compete with the H-1Bs, who are taking our jobs, after we get laid off and black-listed.

"So why are you guys still hanging around ?"

...

For a very simple reason:

To warn any young folks... God knows that HPE isn't hiring any (non-executive) geezers... NOT to hire onto the Heck-bound train!

It's plain and simple, do for your fellow being, what you'd want done for you... Warn you of the stumbling block ahead of you, in your path. HPE ain't nothin' if it ain't one giant stumbling block! Do NOT work there, unless you have NO other choice! If you work there, be checkin' out the alternatives, at all times!

You can only make the investors happy for so long by laying off people instead of innovations and selling good products (which is the best way to make a profit), but the money of profit will last a very short time with lay offs -- so if there is no one left - the investors might has well sell all of HPE stock and move on. This type of logic for profits does not make sense. These CEO's MEG are not very smart business people. You do not become a CEO of a company to run into the ground while with each lay off you make hugh bonus of money to line your pockets while the real working people are put out in the streets to try and find another job and if you are over 50 - no one wants to hire you. Plus it is cheaper with H1B and offshore. So America is flooded with guest workers and all citizens are laid off with no jobs. Very sad indeed.

I started with Compaq in 2000. Compaq had 70,000 employees when HP and Compaq merged. Since the merger HPE has acquired other companies, spun/merged and is now smaller and doing less than Compaq was doing back in 2000. HPE has gone backwards instead of forwards. It's only a matter of time before HPE will be thrown on the trash heap of old tech companies.

There are multiple posts on this forum stating that 3 out of 4 current headcounts will be out of HPE after the ‘HPE Next’ bloodbath is fully executed. Not sure where that came from, but if we consider potential spin-offs and the additional selling of non-high-margin businesses, it makes perfect sense.

Meg did an amazing job for investors... but destroyed a Company that if well-managed, would have been an IT powerhouse for years to come. Needless to say, now that won’t happen and it’s just a matter of time before even the name dissapears into a lame product line swallowed by any big fish out there. Antonio’s tenure will be a short one...
