So it was the first weekend since our GM told us our store was cutting back hours by 20-30 per week. Full-time partspros cut to 32 hours a week, part-time salesman cut to 10-15 hrs a week. We don't even have staff to function as a store now, had 2 staff on Saturday, while try to run retail, commercial, and deliveries. Our store lost hundreds of dollars or more from the 20-30 customers who walked out due to one person being in the store doing everything while the other was on deliveries! LOTS of mad customers going to AutoZone which is right across the street from us!!! Our GM is MIA, on vacation and avoiding mad customers and staff after hour cuts and rumors of layoffs, DM only cares about lack of sales, and not using hours! All us at the store left holding the bag, no parts!!!no staff!!! no loyal customers left!!!!! Our store alone has lost several tens of thousands of dollar accounts in the last six months, and more getting ready to leave!!! WHERE ARE ALL THE ADULTS AT???? GOT THE KIDS WITH ADD AND DOWN SYNDROME RUNNING THE SHOW!!!!

Last poster hit the nail on the head. I really don't see how AAP can survive with the direction it's taking. The parts availability is just not there. The staffing s---s. You can't believe anything that anyone tells you. I guess time will tell.
Unfortunately when your company is owned by a hedge fund, they only care about pleasing the stock holders and not the employees who built the company and the customers who give them the business to keep it going. They have NO LOYALTY to anyone except their pockets. Starboard is the BIG problem along with the Advance upper management. They all need to go.
Good luck getting your customers back Advance. I work for your competition. You dummies have no idea how much we have taken from you and will continue to since you’re such an easy target. Our goal is to keep closing your stores. Your leadership is bottom of the barrel at all levels since the good people you had are long gone. Thanks for making my Christmas a great one!
Cutting the most experienced and highly-paid employees to reduce payroll, cut costs, improve earnings, and raise the stock price is like reducing the federal budget deficit by eliminating the military. It works for a while, and then you're dead.
As a Long term GM. Hours are always reduced at year end. This year it is the most I have seen. The GOOD news I give hours to my employees, by saving some of my vacation till the end of year. Our DM is quiet, after asking him numerous times what is going on. He said he does not know, the higher ups are keeping their mouths shut until end of year.
When a company underperforms, they always cut payroll because it's the easiest thing to cut fast. But it always causes customer service issues and lost sales for months to come. Then they see even worse numbers and figure if they add hours to "improve service", sales will magically come back. Wrong. Once you lose a customer it is very hard to get them back and the word of mouth is so damaging that you sometimes never recover. The company doesn't employ enough people to try and win the customers back they keep losing.
....Breaking news.....This is happening in every store and has been since the first cuts. My DM strips hours M-F but gives us extra hours on Saturday. There is never enough help M-F but employees are standing around twiddling their thumbs on Saturdays. Saturday was never an issue before, we need the hours through the week. But that's what happens when you have an educated spreadsheet enthusiast in charge.
There is some serious brain damage going on at corporate if they do not see understaffing as a problem. Even a total moron would realize customers walking out the door from lack of help is an issue.
