I just got a notice from the bank they say I owe them nearly $16,000 for overpayment of my severance. But I don’t thing they are right. They say the error goes back to before I was let go. They sent me a demand letter. Anyone else getting these kinds of notices. I was thinking of calling my attorney because these guys can’t run a payroll, system just imagine how screwed up the bank systems must be,
I was advised that I was overpaid due to a p/r error and owed $$ back to BofA. They wouldn’t advise me when I was overpaid so I told them to cram it where the sun doesn’t shine. They never replied and the mysterious over payment was not included on my 2016 W-2. Bunch of thiefs.
By the same token if you had used more vacation time than you had earned by the time that you were severed, they would take back that pay.
Your severance agreement should have had an amount of your total severance. If this is not the total amount you received then its wages due. Call Global HR and select Payroll and TIme keeping if you have been underpaid request the money.
Also keep in mind if you had unused vacation time in the year you were severed that is also something you are due - check the employee manual - its in there.... the Bank will not offer to just pay you this - you have to ask for it and your manager at the time you were released still has to approve it. So sorry that happened to you! Did the severance agreement state the amount you would be paid? They essentially changed the terms of the agreement, how can that be ok?
