Thread regarding Oceaneering International Inc. layoffs

Oceaneering is a shell of what it used to be

I can remember a time when I used to actually like going to work at Oceaneering. When management cared about their employees and their advancement. Employees actually looked out for each other and cared for one another. Now we have management who have no idea what they are doing. They finger point and nit pick to try and cover up their incompetence and justify their jobs. Even in a time of recovery they look for loop holes not to pay people who volunteer their time to help a employees family. During Ike recovery managers on down climbed on roofs cut trees and cleaned to help employees and their families no questions asked we were a team and Oceaneering was a true family. But for Harvey mangers showed up in slacks with no intention of doing any work, instead they show up to show face and stand around. It is truly sad to see what was once a great company to work for has fallen so far.

It’s not the foreman/supervisors fault......the rot started when OI hired ‘staff’ from we have become just another oil services company rather than Oceaneering!

I agree 100%, it use to be such a great place to work but now the management, formen and their family and friends are the only ones that benefits. The STR operations manager is only there for the title because the VP and him are best friend's. Useless, breaks my heart.

I worked there during Rita and Ike. The caring and concern from the company was unbelievable. We were paid for our time off, the company bought generators for employees without electricity, and whole groups of people, including managers met up everyday to go and clear out trees for employees until the job was done. The word money was never mentioned. Safety and family were the words we had. But, that was back when we could have Birthday parties and baby was a pre-Australian dude who no longer works at Oceaneering that seemed to come in and change the family culture we had. I am sure that trickled down from the CEO that came in about the same time. I loved Oceaneering when I started working there and was actually happy when I was laid off because the company who hired me died.

Well said. It is not that place it use to be. Moral is at an all time low. Until they change their formen and managers it will never change. Sad place to work.
