Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Sudden changes

So, the "new" hr manager came in and immediately my corporate rotation became simply a guideline and I previously closed 5x a month and now 2-3x that. Because the store will not hire additional employees, I guess the coverage for the store for my department is on me. I am scheduled around the part-timers and I seldom ever open any more, even though there is oftentimes an issue with regard to irp's, returns and freight and there is always much (or all) of each, waiting for me. Needless to say, zoning does not get done in that case, nor do the worklists the service managers create for me. Whose idea was it anyway to eliminate all the department managers and still act like we are fully staffed and presumably work all of us to death or piss us off so we leave? Also, in the past I took unpaid time off to complement my vacation and holiday time but suddenly, according to the hr, I cannot take time off if I am out of paid time off. No more unpaid time off. Wanted top know if any of this is happening in your stores and where I can go to complain. The regional hr manager and her supervisor are no better and they all cover for each other, so how high up should/could I go?

I do not expect any of this to he resolved, but I think much of this should not go on without some sort of response.

That has to s---, The rotation was bad before. Open to Close within days now how you supposed to have a life outside Lowe's if you can't plan days off?

Same at my store. And now apparently a rotation schedule does not exist, they can change your days according to when they need now instead of my Monday Tuesday, they gave me Sunday Friday. Do they not realize that after working you to death you need your two days off in a row?

Nationwide store meetings this morning.

The tapes presention designed to put rumours down, clearly omitted "the specialist's,role. No change for the forseeable future. The specialist boards are still down. The instal process will be releiving specialists from management. It will be tested in October, fot the flooring dept first.

That's exactly why I'm stepping down. I'm the nursery specialist, and since the beginning of July I have had only one person working 10-2, and then a closer from 4-10. I can't get anything done because all I do is water and move plants out. Still getting deliveries nearly every day of live goods. My service manager quit 2 weeks ago, and have heard nothing of a replacement. So no help, no leadership, no hope. And I think that is exactly the way they want it. Then the higher paid employees will quit, replaced with people that make much less. I'm getting out while I can, taking a cut in pay for some peace of mind. I'm going to be a perennial grower. Best part, it's WHOLESALE! So no customers!!!

Lowe's just doesn't get it.. no real freight and stock teams, all they do is drag it out to the floor and shove it in your department and expect the 1 employee working to put it up, take care of customers, do the code 50, code 3, constant code 75 because they won't buy new carts, go backs, pull internet orders for customer service because the head cashiers are too busy playing on facebook and snapchat, answer stupid install questions because installed sales won't answer the phone and oh you're also covering 2 other departments because they took off to lunch at the same time.

it really is a shame that the news media won't do a story on what's really happening at Lowe's It's falling apart internally while corporate makes it look like it's all roses.

Yes. I've closed 11 times in a row. I used to open 3 times a week. Everything is waiting for me when I get there. The part-timers just stand around talking. I asked one why he didn't get anything done before I got there. He said "Why should I? Im not full time." The store manager started avoid us. My sister works in a store in another state and she said the same thing. Things are getting weird again.

I'm in the same boat, work with a couple of single moms who can't work evenings or weekends so that's what I work. The irps freight and everything else is left for me to do including recovering the department.

I do what I can and leave the rest. Sometimes it takes a week to put away freight. Often times I just put up to get it off the floor.
