Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

No respect for the employees

there is absolutely no respect for the employee at Pearson. people are being laid off left and right, with no regard for merit. those who stay get miserable raises that don't even match cost of life, while the completely useless CEO pockets another bonus. there is absolutely no room for promotion if you are not connected to somebody in the management. and don't get me started on having to work nights and weekends (and even holidays!) with no extra compensation. this company used to care about their employees, but that is no longer the case.

Glassdoor is a paid fake news service, and people should not trust it. A little (very little) whining is good for health, but too much whining is definitely bad for health. Pearson is a sinking boat. So move on and have a better life else where.

you guys do realize that glassdoor charges 100K+ per year for large companies to "MANAGE" their glassdoor pages - this is how they make money. now with 1000s of public companies in the USA this adds up quickly for glassdoor. they do not want to alienate the customer (large corporations) and they will do anything to keep them.

That glassdoor comment is so true. So fake. I had an honest, but negative review that met the guidelines of glassdoor and it was up for a couple of months and it has since mysteriously disappeared along with many other negative reviews- and the rating has gone up. Ridiculous.

And to the commenter who said the "whimsical title on social media" LOL! That is so true! The titles US HigherEd managers have given themselves on LinkedIn are so immature. I assume they are trying to appeal to millennials? It's so unprofessional. I'm in my late 20s and even I am embarrassed at this point. That has to have the complete opposite effect on recruiting.

I appreciate the perspective ("whining") current and former Pearson employees bring to the conversation here. I personally know that members of management read this site and it is valuable for them to hear what employees think. They may not change their behavior, but at least people are bringing their horrible behavior to light. Apologists can go post fake reviews on Glassdoor with the rest of the leadership team.

The amount of money they pay themselves is nuts

Don't whine here, just move on. Maybe Oxford publishing is a better company to work. Recall the saying, "when higher ups are A55H011s, everyone behaves like an A55H011", and stop whining here and get an alternative job else where.

It's ok to treat subordinates with no respect as long as you give yourself a whimsical title on social media.
