after working over 8 years as the #2 salaried manager in the Bass Pro Shop here in a Florida location, I was let go on the same date (Jan 27th 2017) as was approx. 50 other management level people due to what was being called a "position elimination at our location". Come to find out they replaced me with another member of management (with less than 5 years of mgnt. experience, I have over 8 times that), and gave them the title of assistant store manager, which is what I was originally hired in as. 2 years after I was hired in as the assistant store manager, my title changed when my position was split into a operations manager and a merchandise manager positions, which I took on. The only reason I was let go is due to my salary was 1 and 1/2 times of the person who took my place. I'm convinced Johnny Morris had to convince the banks he was borrowing money from (5.5 billion) to buy Cabella's that he could lower his controllable expenses to get the loan rating needed. Idiot! He is just continuing to cut off his nose despite his own face, what a 2 faced SOB. It will bite him in the a-- head on. Gluttony is a sin that comes back to haunt every person like him. Too bad, it was a half decent career even though BPS systems are 10 years behind the times and ads s---ed big time as a huge bait and switch since they never sent 25% into our store that they put into our ads. I predict Johnny has bitten off more than his mouth can handle and in 10 years Bass Pro Shops will be another G--lords or Montgomery Wards.

At least your on a ship. Most retailers are closing their doors. Be thankful and work hard! Maybe that could save future cuts.

Yes it seems all stores have fired either the merchandise manager and or operations manager to "create" an assistant manager position. What a disappointment. I feel like I'm floating on a sinking ship!
