Lowes Layoffs 2017 - Worst kept secret in corporate history

Head above should roll as well for this disaster.

Love where you live does not apply to Lowes' employees. We live 40 hours or more in these stores and giving our all. 1

3plus Years with Lowes and they finally have taken it to the trash heap like all the others. What a shame, seen it before had hope it would not come to this. If they thought sales were soft before wait til they see what happens when customers have no one with knowledge helping them love where they live.

Amazon or Home Depot will not beat us . We will do it to ourselves and here is the first step .I was so proud of Lowes what a shame :(

What about the junk guys that gets every thing for 10 cents on the dollar millions of dollars worth of stuff a year. They could keep payroll going easy just a thought

You don,t seem bitter? You are. Sorry you worked there so long? You have a lot to say for someone who is not employeed by this company. Some employees actually enjoy working there. Why are you bashing? Whatever

This is happening to all delivery drivers for Lowe's in northern California. Out of no where . Wish I had seen this so we could be prepared. Saddened by the treatment my husband is getting before their official last day this week.

as a 10 year LOWES' employee, I have seen a lot of changes, and I can tell you, they only care about sales #'s and Credit Apps....if you are dedicated to keeping your Dept. in order ( as I have always been) you are simply deluding yourself into believing you are valued - I have been in Plumbing almost the entire time I have worked at LOWES' and have 16 years background in the Plumbing Business before that, but as a Sales Specialist who cares about helping ALL our customers, and not just NESTING at the desk, I will probably see myself cut when the "not in the foreseeable future" cuts start happening...probably in September....and at age 61 with no financial nest egg, that's gonna hurt.....

Lowes in Matthews s---s, what a f---ing social engineered corny fupped place it is.all the old employees are leaving or are bitter, training is a pathetic joke, this company is displaying all the signs of a corporate giant that is overextended, full of stupid apathetic minority employees and arrogant uncaring managers all on their way to bankruptcy.

by | Post ID:

Lowe's want's cheap labor not good labor. They feel the stupid CEO is worth more then the valuable employees in the front line. Niblock has to go.. He's only killed the company.. Lowe's stock has been about the same for the past few years. People not investing into us.. in the past 2 years HD is up over 32% while Lowe's is up under 11%.. The Dow is up 26% in the same time line. Doesn't take a genius why Lowe's did what they did. The upper management has lost lots of $$$ and now they need to drive stock price up at the cost of the employees on the front lines. Lowe's used to have a saying "retire rich". Any long time person of Lowe's remembers that. Not any more.

by | Post ID:

Lowes is an Anti American store, especially in IT. I see all other companies are moving forward with no H1B. Good for our country! But Lowes is not even posting the job instead calling past foreign people and giving the job. This is not acceptable at all!

by | Post ID:

get out of retail and do B2B sales so glad I left...big box retail stores just do not care anymore

by | Post ID:

Lowe’s social engineering management strategy will eventually be their undoing unless they abandon it.

Lowe’s obviously are through with the proverbial and favorite target of the “political correct” the “old white guy” in management. --- They still depend on the “old white guys” to do the “nut’s and bolts” of the operation but as a back-grounder “Specialist” while they have young and middle-aged women and the appropriate number of transgender and g--s in management—and of course African-Americans, male and females.

Oh, Lowe’s needs to stop their ad-campaign of being “veteran preference”--- I’m not convinced Lowe’s can even spell veteran.

by | Post ID:

A relative of mine works for another big retailer. Similar changes there. Must be more than Lowes. This retailer used same wording "restructuring of management positions". Same timeline, back in February this year. Coincidence? How many companies doing this? Worth some research maybe.

Yes all Lowe's employees are doomed! The Lowe's Bot is taking over the robot can greet customers, answer questions, even take people to the product and inventory they said so all of us can help customers better what do u think?

by | Post ID:

Well I was laid off back in may. Was told I violated company policy. Was never written up for anything. Was called in the office and told my services were no longer needed. Filed for unemployment and was not denied because lowes could not produce one piece of paper that I did in fact do something wrong. I was one of the Csa 5's that they were looking to unload from payroll. Be warned. That January timeline to find a job is a lie. Turns out I had to move and I got a better job with another company. There were 3 other CSA5's that were let go for one reason or another. Those folks were the most knowledgeable associates in their departments. I don't understand the mindset that these large companies are following. The customer is king is just one big lie. They only care about policy and metrics. Well when customer figure out that nobody knows anything about products they sell, they will go to Home Depot instead. Oh wait they are. Home Depot kicked lowes market share last month by double digits.

I worked in the store for 3 years now i just got transfer to an different store due to lazy mangers i was doing his job and got the pay pretty much. they hired LAZY services mangers and rude and nasty one at that. mine had to respect for women or for anyone at that. he would call me on my day off to b--ch and yell at me. tell me i was never doing my job right. but yet he was in the office eating all the time. he told me one day i'm an manger 'im not allowed to move any boxs sorry thats ur job not mine but yet the other mangers are on the folk lifts on order pickers ect... i m sorry they should give them an manger class... they let there JOB title get to there heads and not care for others. days i needed off he would tell me nope sorry. he was the worst person ever. i was never allowed to vent to anyone cuz he would tell me off for getting in trouble. he seems not to care about anything or anyone feelings. he is an heartless soul. he killed it for me. i used to love my job and helping customers and we have the rudest ones at that. lowes needs to see the bad and the roots of all evil thats going on in some stores. we have the best store manger ive ever seen and u cant talk to him cuz me or anyone would get yelled for speaking out.. i had to change my life my kids life and go to an different store cuz of BAD MANAGEMENT

I would love to know how a store over stocks Lawn and Garden, HVAC products that you have no place to put it in the store in top stock. You have enough of the product for two seasons and the next season they are non stock and you have in every cubby hole in the building product, and you order more of the same the next year. I have pulled from top stock product that was over 2 years old, now non-stock and the experts don't want it on the floor at a discounted price. A waste of company money.

IT'S TIME FOLKS!

Time to organize a company wide revolt. This could be a company wide no specialist day:)

It could be an organized sit in in front of the stores.. a strike of sorts, perhaps with picketing.

Social media wide spread info regarding the unfairness to lowe's employees encouraging people to boycott shopping and applying for jobs.. how about all of the above.

I lost my house when they pulled sales specialists commissions. The new ssei requirements for cust surveys guarantee no bonus potential for any of us. THE PROPOSED REMOVAL OF SPECIALISTS WITH A REDUCTION OF PAY NOT ONLY ELLIMINATES ANY INCENTIVES THAT REMAIN FOR THOSE COMPENSATED FOR LOST COMMISSIONS, IT SECURES A POVERTY LEVEL STANDARD OF LIVING IN ORDER TO CONTINUE WORKING HERE. You will no longer be able to support yourself on a Lowe's wage unless you are the psi or pse or possibly a manager.. and that's not a safe position either!

by | Post ID:

my service mgr. will ask me 20 questions a day about power equipment because he does not know about it what happens when they can the rest of the sales specialists dumb-dumb-dumb move

ARE WE THE LOWES FAMILY EVEN IF WE ARE LET GO?

by | Post ID:

I can believe all of the purposed cuts. I've been with Lowes 16 years and it's happened time and time again. I will say this go round is the most severe that I've ever seen though. Pre Niblock cuts at least had a small sense of care and compassion. This new Niblock regime doesn't care about anything but the mighty millions in bonuses. It's sad what they have done to a once great company.

I did want to put out there that I just observed a visiting ex-HRM (moved and stepped down) say to a week-end team member. "I'm sorry you are getting cut too. She said she still gets HR emails and couldn't believe they were cutting the weekday and weekend team programs. She had no idea it hadn't come down yet.

This was the first I heard of the Wee team getting cut. Pretty soon they are going to have one associate cover 1zone by themselves!! Just like the orange box!!

Welcome to Walmart, would you like some lumber?

by | Post ID:

Im sure no will like me for saying this but oh well ... i worked for lowes in the eastern part of michigan for 5 years (part time) and most of the full timers had been in that store for a long time and they were the most over paid and the most lazy people in the store, part timers did all the work while the FT were hiding in the back or in the break room. Heck even the store manager smoked inside the pallet trailer behind the store ... mind you the grounds were a smoke free zone ... so im my opion most NOT ALL probly deserved to go anyways ...

Lowes has become the biggest liars and most unprofessional business in America. There president and CEO is a complete dirtbag. You cut from the stores then they say they want to be the best at customer service. How can that happen if you cut from your stores. I would like to know how much that b---s--- vegas trip costs them every year... plane, food, hotel, entertainment, liability, of course drinks. Companies like this should be held accountable. How do you lay people off the way they did and then say... we care about our people. Biggest b---s--- I've ever heard. Best job at Lowes. Is part time. They don't say sh-- to you. Come in for 4 hours play around. Then bounce. Lowes! So many hard workers. And you let them go. Now your letting people in. They don't give a rats a-- what the store looks like or care for our customers. Good luck niblock! Your a scum.

by | Post ID:

Lowe's has messed up a lot of lives

by | Post ID:

Lowe's will bounce back. They are a business. You are a number. Wake up!

by | Post ID:

Lowes wasn't going for better customer service! They were going for saving them selves money! They started in late 2014 fireing full time, long time, people with long time experience, that made good money for any reason they could write you up for. That kept up thru 2015 and 2016 then in 2017 when they had honed down a lot of the the employees that made good money and benefits. They started with the management. And all for better customer service. How is that done with part timers who don't care about the company they work for and at more than half the pay with little or no bennies. Those that worked for Lowes know that they have lousy training . I think Lowes overextended themselves buying out other stores in the US and out of the country and cutting out highly paid and highly trained from years of experience was a way of helping pay for their expanding .

by | Post ID:

I worked as a delivery driver, pushing myself 10-14 hrs a day working on days off and beating myself up daily for 9 yrs. I finally said I'm done, my body could not take it much more so I worked hard to become the delivery manager. Boosting morale going 365 days without an incident helping the store and its customers feel comfortable with delivery. 3 yrs later I was training to move up to asm. After being told I should apply for asm and I have a good shot at it. I get fiolettsk.ru notice at the DM meeting here I'm thinking "ok I'm a shoe in" apply for all new positions only to be told I am not qualified 4 of the 6 were fresh low payed in experienced managers. These decisions make me believe they had already budgeted for this and made the picks long before interveiws. Now months later even asm' say they made the wrong choices.

by | Post ID:

Gave 13 years to Lowes as a department manager before being told that January 28 2018 would be the end of the ride. What a crock. Lowes in many cases came before my family. Now I know that they can never again be trusted. Not on my eyes anyway.

by | Post ID:

Change starts at the top, not at the bottom. these guys wasted millions of dollars on LEF, the half a-- working i pods, these innovation end-caps are a joke, customers care about service, not pretty end-caps with prerecorded videos. It's the good hard working people who make this company, not the big wig pen pushers who put on a fake smile during the staff meetings to do their corny scripted hype videos to good to give up their lifestyle 1% a--holes who look down on us, every person that has been affected by this change from this company any extended amount of time has been severely discouraged. Have you seen what has happened to this company? First Commission was cut, then Bonuses were changed to be harder to obtain, the company used to treat people like humans, not robots. Now they cut the tenured people either down or out. How is anyone inspired to move up in this company anymore. not this one. 15 years management lowes. How bout helping employees love where they work. that's a good slogan.

I have worked for Lowe's for a combined total of 23 years. In Nov. last year I had a full knee replacement came back to work as the Appliance and Cabinet Dept. Mgr on the 24th of January. I was told that as of the 27th our jobs would be gone and we could apply for the 5 service mgr positions open. All 12 of the old DM's applied but the 5 that got it were dept mgrs for less than 20 months. The 23 years that I gave Lowe's means nothing. On top of that on the 27th when they selected the service managers they moved all of us to other depts. Now with that being said I can no longer sit at all during the day which my orthopedic surgeon says I have to be able to do so I am prolonging my healing by months. My management team does no care at all, they would just as soon see me and all of the rest of us gone. Totally disengaged now use to be the most loyal employee Lowe's had. Store 2565 Lebanon Mo

Lowe's came before my personal life for over 10 years. The rotating schedule insured that I spent nearly every holiday away from my children when they needed me the most. I destroyed my body loading block in the heat for five summers and stocked doors as DM of Millwork. My Depts. always performed above forecast with my last season breaking sales records and selling the most block in the Dist. out of +130 stores. I was fired the week after the busy season ended. I am in constant pain now and no insurance. I deserved more. Now 53 with no hope. Just lost years. F you Lowe's! Karma happens..... Hope I am alive to see it in this case.

Lowe's in Brimfield/Kent, OH is corrupt. The store manager is two faced and actively trying to force the exmanagers that lost their jobs to quit by forcing them into one things after another. The human resource woman came from another store and has already said racially insensitive and demeaning things about and to new employees. Two of the assistant managers act like it is a game to play with people's live and schedules. The store manager smiles and puts on a good show when district is in the store the undermines the staff as soon as they are gone. The shrink seems to be getting worse ever since he came to the store and nothing is being fixed. Of the six people who retained service manager positions only two or three were qualified. The front end support manager likes black men and surprise the store manager is black and chose her to stay. The zone 1 and 2 and back end support managers were buddy buddy with the store manager and again surprise they got positions. Which they have fumbled on a daily basis since. AVOID THIS STORE! DO NOT APPLY AND DO NOT SHOP FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!!

ceo regrets--don't think so--walk an aisle with those who were termed--enjoy your 30 million bonus while I cash out my 401K to put food on the table...while I live with family in a small house. enjoy your 30 million while when we do eat, we eat oatmeal or mac cheese....hell you probably don't know what mac and cheese is....I had never been in a HD before this, bought moving boxes to pack before we were default on rent....enjoy your 30 million while we sold off all we could to have money to eat, gas for car to look for work...gas for car,,,,hell you don't even fill your own COMPANY car up...sleep well at nights I bet...I couldn't, I would have given that 30 million to all those destroyed families that you are responsible for...30 million, choke on every penny

by | Post ID:

This "layoff " bs was such a joke. I was an ope specialist in a lowes in northern Michigan. The store I worked in had 11 department managers interview for the 4 service manager positions and the 4 people that got the positions had been with the company only 1-2 years and were way less qualified than the 7 that had dedicated 10 or more years to this company. This company was by far the worst I've ever worked for. They don't care about their customers and even less about the people that have dedicated many years to them.

by | Post ID:

I found it extra shady, and immoral, and I am hoping illegal ? That even though Niblock, and most of Corporate right down to the Store General Managers knew months in advance this "re-structuring" was going to take place kept posting, and hiring Department Managers, and ASM's and in a few cases hired associates who then moved their families to new towns only to lose the job or be demoted days or months later. The ones who stayed had to take a 2 to 4 $ pay cut ? That is just evil, you can't describe that any other way.

by | Post ID:

I worked for the company for 23 years. Started as head cashier and work up through the ranks. Dealt with s-xist, anti women, boys club, s-xual assault and harassment, managers that stole, embezzlement and as the fill in for HR, Store manager, ops, admin for 14 years, store of the year 2 times. To be told by the new store manager I was being laid off because I was not qualified with the new structure to be a manager at Lowes. I can guarantee I was let go in this restructure because of my wages. What a crock! I know how the game works, I have seen it and survived it through Lowes before. Liars. I always thought I would retire from Lowes, I was a company person! Not so much now.

by | Post ID:

I have worked both the corporate office and the stores and I can say from experience that the corporate has no clue what the stores do and the stores have no clue what corporate does. They should be ran as individuals. This was always my problem. I worked a store for over a year and loved my job and being the only universal agent they had I could do it all. I lost my job due to the store manager did not like me so an excuse was made to get rid of me. The store has now been in trouble with embezzlement and money loss that for some odd reason doesn't seem to be coming back on the store manager who if you work hard he gets rid of you and keeps the ones he likes regardless of how they work. The company itself needs to look at who is running there stores and quit sweeping things under the rug. The store may be performing the way it should but it's the employees making it that way. Lay the ones off who don't work.
