Thread regarding Quest Software Inc. layoffs

Quest cuts more employees

First day of the new fiscal year and quests' clueless leaders will go forward by cutting 1/3rd of their company ... time to make the investors happy ... one quarter of no direction and weak leadership and they think the experienced sales makers are the problem... get away from this company --- far away

- It was the fault of Dell but I think that Quest was pass the tipping point prior to the sale. All the new management is doing is trying to stop the money from bleeding out while they slice it up into the four business units and prep each for a sale to the next s---er on the list (Microfocus/DXC since that's who the CEO did the last fire sale to would be the best guess). Strip it down the the core functions, slash costs to make a couple of quarters of profit, sell. Look at the history of the "leadership" and you can see that they're job isn't to grow companies, it's to polish turds.

Just when things were beginning to quieten down, 2 more in renewals made redundant in Cork office this week, will they hit sales again?

It's funny to see how there continue to be "It's all a fault of Dell" mentality .... I wonder when everyone will wake-up and stop blaming others and understand we have to turn this ship ... albeit with ongoing layoff ... it's like death by a thousand cuts --- and my fear is when time comes, they'll not even offer the somewhat ok packages enforced by Dell agreement (still Dell packages were better deals !). Expect another big round by end of Q2, it's already work in progress and with such a weak Q1....

Probably more to come . Hedgies want their return. Can be brutal. Company needs to shrink to half the size and with the Economy slowing and new players in the market space Quest may or may not do well.

I guess more cake will be offered soon

- You're right, there's nothing wrong with trimming the fat. That happened in 2014 and a bit more in 2015. In 2016, they decided to cut deep in to the muscle. Deep. Q4 was weak at best and they just did another round of layoffs. That's smart... if you're working on destroying a once proud company. Quest has become so irrelevant that journalists don't even bother covering it anymore. I would encourage you to keep that resume updated and handy. It's going to be a bumpy ride. Best of luck to you!

feel for customers on the system management/user management side, as well as foglight.. Toad should stick since so many ORACLE customers rely on it... but the customer satisfaction will lead to this company going away. This last layoff was not a cutting of the fat... it was a bottom line cut. Engineers, r&d, specialists.. yea that is fat???? best of luck to all, but as most upper management has said in recent meetings... keep that resume updated.

- Michael Dell is the king parasite.

by | Post ID:

All life is a parasite in some form, feeding off something and humans are no different. Then it just comes down to the size of the parasite ... now if the parasite can reign back the level of greed you have a chance but it seems that as much greed as possible is the in thing today. You and many more will be eaten up in time

Quest is probably looking like Greece's balance sheet. Ah the dream for many are being shattered. A small grp in in RR and they will probably be dissolved in time along with AppAssure

by | Post ID:

John Swainson was an awful CEO. He stood by and did nothing but collect checks and get his a-- kissed by his sycophantic staff while Michael Dell drove software into a ditch. The sackings this week are all on him

Compliance team wiped out in Cork office this week. Morale very low.

To - Watch out...your number might be next! lol!

by | Post ID:

As someone who survived the cuts this was long overdue. Nothing wrong with trimming the fat after Dell bloated the company.

by | Post ID:

I think that Quest probably intended to keep everyone ... until they saw the actual financials. Swainson et al were the perfect snake oil salesmen and got Francisco Partners to bit hook, line, and sinker. Anyone internally who saw the numbers did a big head scratch and wondered what dark place they were pulled from. The reality of the company is that of a few profitable products and a ton of overhead. The sad part is that they're not actually cutting full product lines but are cutting around the edges and causing the core teams pain. Vegas odds for the long term survival of the company: 5-2 against

Foglight is been dead for years.

by | Post ID:

I got laid-off in the first round--kind of happy now that I did instead of wondering every quarter if I would be next on the chopping block. And of course, Quest assured all DSG employees that they wouldn't be making cuts when they bought us!

by | Post ID:

Hedgies will fire most employees as they will need their payout. Good Luck Folks
