Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I am a Senior Engineer and my base salary at the Q is about $120,000. Am I underpaid? Is this a good salary for a Senior Engineer?

This is very important for me .. please advise .

I am senior engineer 8 yes exp in Qualcomm bay area .. currently evaluating offer 130k + 12% bonus, no RSU, in software engineer 3 at Cisco systems, bay area .

Should I push v.hard for software engineer 15% bonus ? They are negotiating for 3.

How is CISCO vs qualcomm ?

Should I stay back and ask for raise here ?

Currently 125k + bonus +rsu -140k.

Guys please please advise ..

I am also a senior eng (4 years of total work exp) and work on browser optimizations for QC hardware, my take home is around 140K, 110k base salary and 30K in bonus+stock grants. Fitbit is hiring in San Diego and someone who just moved their said they got 10% increase on top of this but no stock grants (little bit of equity)

My skill set is well sought after by big employees. ..

I found average salary for san diegan qualcomm senior engg to be 115k on glassdoor :)

On average, most software and hardware engineers in S.D. make about 5% more than national average. Not that good considering cost of living is almost 30% more than some of the "frozen states." Title at Q doesn't matter so much as what your experience level and area of expertise is. Also, assume you are making at least 5% below market for your skill set if you are H1B.

I think $100K would be the average salary assuming you started off as an Engineer in the company. I think $120K makes sense if you are close to Staff

That said. Title doesn't really matter much. At a small company, there probably is only two or three titles. So at a smaller company, depending how many years you've been working, that might be low or might be high. There are plenty of Senior Software Engineers that I know make $95k, and there are some that make well over $200k

Not bad....It's alright for san diego. It depends on how long you've been working too.

I'm what you call a senior principal engineer somewhere else. My base currently sits at $170k/year With stock and bonus, I topped out last year roughly at $210k/year for my total compensation, not including the capital gains on ESPP, which was substantial. Still it was lower than previous years. I guess that's equivalent to what a senior staff/manager would make at the Q, except I have no direct reports to manage. I am in charge of multiple projects and am still hands on, which I guess might be a difference. Before, our compensation package was better, but it's been getting smaller. So the Qualcomm isn't alone in that regards.
